FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington had a total of 25 student-athletes make the 2015-16 North Atlantic Conference Winter/Spring All-Academic Team, which was released by the conference office on Tuesday morning.
The women's basketball team had a quartet make the list – seniors Elizabeth Ferry (Winslow, Maine/Winslow) and Meghan Smith (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region); junior Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy), and sophomore Emma Duggan (Lancaster, Mass./Nashoba Regional).
The baseball team had a pair of upperclassmen and a pair of underclassmen earn the honor – senior Sean Cabaniss (Vassalboro, Maine/Erskine Academy); junior Mark Leahy (Rochester, N.H./Spaulding), and sophomores Brett Elliott (Danville, Vt./Danville); and Tyler Flayhan (Sanford, Maine/Sanford).
The women's lacrosse team posted four upperclassmen to the All-Academic Team, including a trio of juniors – juniors Danielle Conway (Lakeville, Mass./Apponequet Regional); Erica Letellier (Biddeford, Maine/Biddeford); and Alaina Shorey (Lebanon, Maine/Noble), and senior Mara Balboni (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee);
The softball also had a group of four upperclassmen ink their name on the list – seniors Abby Burdin (Guilford, Maine/Piscataquis); Katrina Seeley (Poland, Maine/Poland); Emily Vitone (Westminster, Mass./Oakmont), and junior Alison Hamilton (Portsmouth, R.I./Portsmouth).
The men's track and field team closed out its inaugural season with three student-athletes earning a spot – seniors Sean Cabaniss (Vassalboro, Maine/Erskine Academy) and Josh Wynne (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy), and sophomore Adam Shorey (Pittsfield, Maine/MCI).
The women's track and field team rounded out UMF's honorees with eight student-athletes solidifying their name on the All-Academic Team – sophomores Anna Dowling (Saco, Maine/Thornton Academy); Hannah Emery (Detroit, Maine/MCI); Kayla Girardin (Presque Isle, Maine/Presque Isle); Sarah Jenkins (Old Orchard Beach, Maine/Old Orchard Beach); Molly Menice (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy); Laura Pulito (Brownfield, Maine/Fryeburg Academy); Kaitlyn Virgin (Mexico, Maine/Mountain Valley), and junior Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy).

The NAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes on varsity sports teams who have earned a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Student-athletes must also have reached sophomore academic standing and competed in a minimum of two years of varsity competition at their institution.
