Smith Gets NEWBA Senior All-Star Game Nod

FARMINGTON, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington senior forward Meghan Smith (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) has been selected to play in the 2016 New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star, which was released on Friday morning.

The game will be hosted on the campus of Western New England University on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.

Smith becomes the fourth player in program history to play in the All-Star Game, joining Becky Roak in 2001, Kari Simpson in 2007, and Caitlyn Laflin in 2010.

Smith was a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) First Team All-Conference selection and made the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Second Team All-State this season. The senior averaged 15.6 points and 10.4 rebounds this season and tallied 16 double-doubles in her final season at Farmington.

She shot a conference-best 52.0% from the floor and set a single-season record with 209 free throw attempts while nearly breaking the single-season mark for most made free throws with 141, only four shy of tying the all-time record.
